FROM NEW JERSEY TO NASHVILLE
Born and raised in Glen Rock, New Jersey, and inspired by Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, and Eddie Vedder, Roy began playing the guitar at the age of 8 and performing by 12. In his teens, he started playing country music and found his true passion: songwriting. After multiple visits to Music City during his high school years, Matt moved to Nashville full-time in 2014 and has been writing and performing ever since. He is a signed writer Big Machine Music and has song credits with top artists including Morgan Wallen, Kane Brown, Chris Janson, Chris Young, Jake Owen and Ashley Cooke. He gained his first No. 1 in 2020 with Chris Janson’s multi-week single “Done.” He is thrilled to be working with amazing writers every day while pursuing his dream as an artist.
